Figurative or literal?

One day my youngest daughter said that she was pretty grown up for her age. After all, (as she told me) she has an extensive vocabulary and knows the difference between figurative and literal. Because if something literally happens, it happens, well..... literally.

So she was pretty cute the other day:

She had dropped something and was concerned that it was a big deal and that I might get angry. I said, "Don't worry, honey. It's not the end of the world." She replies, "No, not like the sun exploding. Now that would be the end of the world!"

One of our favorite shows is Duff Goldman's Ace of Cakes on the Food Network. We adore Duff and Geoff and the whole crew. They make specialty cakes with fondant frosting. Here's the link to his show:

We cut out of church right after worship and trucked up to the Mall of America for "America's Greatest Bake Sale" at which Duff was appearing. We stood in line for an autograph only to find out that we had to get a wrist band, of which there were no more. A very gracious lady offered to have our notebook signed. So we waited around.
